Batai sighed as he finished confirming the contents of his backpack. He knew he had everything he needed, but it was likely a nervous activity, due to walking into the unknown. He was surprised with how open Mreek had become after she noticed the reactions of the away team. Looking across the small compartment, he was about to ask Elsie how she was doing, when he heard "Sirona to Captain Dhej. I'm sorry to interrupt you sir, but I have an officer who just came aboard from a passing transport and is requesting to report to you immediately."

Curious about what was going on, he said "Acknowledged. Have the officer beam directly to the runabout, and I will take care of it from there. Dhej out." While waiting for the officer to join them, Batai said "Elsie, any idea who may be in such a hurry to report in?"

Elsie just completed her conversation with Lieutenant Coleman. She was not sure if their situation was resolved or not. But for the moment, she needed to focus on the unannounced visitor. "I have no idea Captain?" Said Elsie, as she looked to Batai, wondering who was coming to the surface, and why they were interfering with their first contact situation.

Pacing around the small area, Dhej waited for the officer to beam down. He was frustrated that someone he didn't expect, was interfering with the beginning of his mission. He knew the mission was important, and that they had just gained the trust of Mreek. He didn't want any delays to put that in jeopardy.

Elsie wondered, who was beaming down? Why now? Why not after the mission? What did this offer need, that could not wait till after their mission? Elsie noticed the Captain waiting and pacing, she debated about saying something. But she felt the same way he did.

Lance materialized on the runabouts small pad, small bag in tow. As he took a quick survey he found an officer seated and a rather anxious looking captain. He walked over, which didnt take long. "Uh, excuse me." he said. "Lieutenant Holt, Captain. My apologies for any inconvenience I may have caused."

"Well it would be nice to know, why you are here Mister Holt? Were in the middle of a diplomatic situation, and providing medical relief and support for the Tohree." Pointed out Elsie, in a calm and collected voice. As she looked to the Captain to see if he wanted to add anything.

"Uh..yes. ' Holt said, stammering slightly. . "I'm sure I've got a padd in here somewhere."

Batai nodded, and added "Yes Mister Holt, I would like to know why you were so eager to report into me. I assume you have some transfer orders or something for me?

"Ah! Here it is, the little booger." He said. "I'm from the JAG corps sir." He began. "My orders from Admiral Mackenzie." He said, handing over the padd. "I didn't have much time to get ready. But I'm here for a JAG investigation."

Elsie grabbed the padd from Lance, and liked she feared. "You are here to investigate the death of Lieutenant Hawthorn, and the injury of Commander Alom." Said Elsie outloud, wondering why why now, why in the middle of a mission. Elsie looked to Lance.

"We are in a time sensitive mission, we can not hold off the Tohree, your investigation will have to wait til the completion of this one. At that time you will have my full cooperation as first officer." Said Elsie, with a disapproving look on her face. JAG had some nerve sending an investigator, while they were on another mission.

Batai's face fell when he heard Elsie advise what the investigation was regarding, but added "I agree with Lieutenant Barnett, Mr. Holt. If you want to observe us as a command team, you will do so as an active and useful member of the away team. When the mission is complete, I will also submit to your questioning. If you don't agree with that, I can certainly have you beamed back to Sirona to wait for our return. What do you say Mr. Holt?"

"I place myself entirely under your command, Captain." The lawyer said. "I'm a Starfleet officer first, a lawyer second."

"Good now that we are in agreement, let's save the Tohree? What do you all say?" She asked, trying to shift the focus on the big elephant in the air. There was no reason to worry about the investigation at this moment. The Tohree needed their help.

Nodding, Batai grabbed his backpack and shrugged it on to his shoulders. Tightening the straps he said "Let's get going, we've got a long hike ahead of us, and a lot of work to do." Turning, he lead the way out of the runabout to join the rest of the group.
