Personal History Grew up with his parents along the Washington coast, a nominally pleasant life until the Dominion War, when his mother joined as a shipyard technician. He opted to go with her, his father and sister staying behind on Earth to pursue their respective academic studies. This disdain for the war effort caused a rift between Auryn and his father for years. The time with his mother on the drydocks is what first introduced Auryn to the wonder of starship engines. Though too young to participate in the work, he would stare and dream at the exposed sections where warp cores and nacelle coils were being installed. This lead to an early desire to study warp theory which, though beyond his mathematics abilities at the time, gave him cause to double down on his formative studies. By the time the war was over, Auryn was already conceptually well ahead in applied warp mechanics. He joined the Academy to pursue a career in Starfleet, which again strained his relationship with his father. But having gotten a taste for space travel, Auryn refused to be tied down to Earth.
